the insidious "tag - you're it"

OK, [info]andele has tagged me with the 5 idiosyncrasies meme, in an apparently-not-vain attempt to get me to post something here.

But first: when I was a tiny child, my parents were pretty strict about certain things (only one cookie after supper, etc.), but every so often they would feel inclined toward leniency.  But before they let me do whatever it was I wasn't supposed to do, they would say "This is not a precedent!"  So I learned the word "precedent" at, like, 20 months old.

The point being, I don't have time to have a LiveJournal.  This Is Not A Precedent.  But I have enjoyed some of the idiosyncrasies I've seen in other journals, so- what the heck.

    1. Every day at work, I bring and eat the same lunch: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a yogurt, and an apple. The yogurt is a relatively new addition (say in the past five years) but I've been eating essentially the same lunch almost every weekday since I was 6. (I'm 34.)
    2. If I'm stuck somewhere and need to kill time, I often sing the Lord Chancellor's song ("When you're lying awake...") from Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe, which I painstakingly memorized when I was 9 or 10.
    3. One of my favorite foods in all the world is pickled herring.  My parents used to buy me a jar of it if I did something really good.
    4. Although I majored in studio art and studied for my MFA in painting, and I am a representational painter, I really can't doodle, sketch, or cartoon, and am terrible at games like Pictionary.  (I can draw, but that seems to be a completely different skill.)
    5. If I drink coffee later than about 10:30 AM, I can't sleep that night.  Similarly, if I take Benadryl or other antihistamines that supposedly make you sleepy, I can't sleep that night.
